Student working on a reading assignment

Students in distance learning have the flexibility to complete assignments and virtual classes on the schedule that best meets the needs of each family. While distance learning will include Zoom-based “live” classes, all Zoom lessons will be recorded for students to watch at a later time.

We hope that every student can participate in these real-time classes, but we know that our families need flexibility based on work schedules, childcare arrangements, and the unexpected circumstances that may come up in day-to-day life. If your child misses a “live” class during distance learning, he or she can watch it at another time or even on another day.

As long as your child completes their assignments on time each week, using recorded lessons on a flexible schedule will not affect attendance. Teachers will post the link to recordings in Canvas, and they will be available for at least a week for students to watch when they are able to. This could be during the day, in the evening, or on the weekend – whatever fits your family’s schedule the best. Teachers will also post lesson activities for students to complete for attendance purposes.

Our teachers and staff are dedicated to working with you to make learning accessible for students no matter what. For more information about distance learning at Tulsa Public Schools, visit www.tulsaschools.org/distancelearning.
